The Sakharov Prize for 2026 was awarded to the International Criminal Court.

For more than 20 years, the International Criminal Court in The Hague has held accountable the perpetrators of war crimes, genocide and other crimes against humanity in countries where there is no way to reach justice. For this reason, the European Parliament will award the Sakharov Prize to this international organization in 2026.

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Matsula, said on Thursday, October 22 in Strasbourg: "The European Union is based on respect for multilateralism and international institutions, and with this award we honor the important work of the Hague Court in upholding international law and justice."
