🔶 The German government's response to Deutsche Welle: The death penalty is rejected under no circumstances.
On October 10, coinciding with the International Day Against the Death Penalty, the Human Rights Officer of the German Government; Dr. Lars Castellucci issued a statement in which he emphasized that the German government is working to abolish the death penalty worldwide.
Part of this statement was dedicated to Iran. In this section, referring to Amnesty International's statistics that 2159 people will be executed in 2025 in Iran, he wrote: "I ask the Iranian government to immediately stop executions, declare an official moratorium on executions and completely abolish the death penalty."
Two days after this statement, Safida Kalyan, a human rights activist and former political prisoner, sent names to Castellucci. This letter, written on October 12 in Dezpol, contains his personal narratives from his years of imprisonment in various prisons in Iran.
