Turkey submitted the defense agreement with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia known as the "Mecca Agreement" for the approval of the parliament of this country.

According to the Reuters news agency, three parliamentary sources announced on Tuesday, October 20 (28 Mahar) that with this action, NATO's second largest army is one step closer to the official commitment of mutual defense with Riyadh, in the context that Saudi Arabia is facing Houthi attacks in Yemen.

In August, the three countries signed an agreement for the joint defense of Mecca. According to this agreement, an armed ground attack is considered a militant attack on one of the members, and a ground attack on all members. However, in the joint statement issued upon the signing of the agreement, it was not clear what specific commitments each country made. At the coalition's emergency meeting held in Riyadh earlier this month, these three countries agreed to ensure the rapid deployment of military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia.
