🔶 MI5 chief: Iran has escalated its attacks in Britain

Ken McCallum, head of the British internal intelligence organization (MI5), warned on Tuesday, October 13 (October 21) that Iran is expanding the scope of its activities on British soil, and in addition to opponents of the Islamic Republic, it is targeting more difficult targets such as military centers as well as places associated with Jewish communities.

These statements are made in a situation where tensions between Tehran and London have increased and the British authorities are investigating a suspicious plan for a ground attack on the Farford air force base. The base used by American forces for a ground attack on Iran during the war that began in February.

In his annual report on security threats against Britain, McCallum said this spring there had been a wave of arson and vandalism attacks against Jewish communities in Britain and other European countries. He called these attacks "hateful" and blamed Iran for them. The head of MI5 added: "Another big change this year is Iran's ambition to target harder targets such as military centers." According to him, the Perford base incident is not a unique case and other examples of such threats have been observed not only in Great Britain but also in other parts of the world.

McCallum announced that over the past 12 months, more than 50 people have been arrested in Britain in connection with Iran-related activities; Among them, two Iranian citizens who were charged this month in connection with a suspected ground assassination against Jews in the Manchester area.
