🔶 India refused to send medicines to Iran on Iranian planes

Mohammad Hashemi, the spokesman of the Food and Drug Organization of Iran, announced on Monday, October 20 (Oct 12) that India refused to send some shipments of medicines by Iranian planes and this issue made it difficult to supply the necessary medicines to the country.

A spokesman for the Food and Drug Organization of Iran said that most neuropsychiatric drugs, especially tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), are in the group of psychiatric drugs under the supervision of the UN International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), and India is one of the most important suppliers of these drugs in the world.

Hashemi explained that after the start of the 40-day war in Isfand 1404 and the cessation of direct flights between India and Iran, the transfer of cargoes of these drugs was limited and India's refusal to send cargoes with Iranian planes also escalated the supply problems. The spokesman for the Food and Drug Organization added that emergency imports and the use of indirect routes were able to meet some of the country's needs, but these measures were not enough to fully cover the needs of the patients.
