🔶 Starlink; A new crack in Iran's filter wall

Report by Daniel Omri

The words of Mohammad Amin Agamiri, Secretary of the Supreme Council and head of the National Cyberspace Center, about the "managed" shutdown of Starlink terminals during the interceptions, showed once again that the satellite Internet of the Salami Republic has passed the level of technical concern.

Agamiri said Iran was the first country to disable Starlink terminals during interceptions. He also warned that if satellite Internet infrastructure is used as a "tool of war," it could be a "legitimate military target."

Until a few years ago, Starlink was more of a potential threat to the officials of the Salami Republic. It has been warned, but it has not yet become a serious issue in Internet governance. But now the sources say that the situation has changed. Behzed Akbari, Deputy Minister of Communications and CEO of Infrastructure Communications Company, said that "Starlink is no longer just a concern, but has become a reality." He also said that some of the internet traffic in the country has moved to unofficial routes.
