The European Union has restricted the import of Chinese hybrid cars

The member states of the European Union have reached an agreement on reducing the import of hybrid cars made in China.

A representative of the European Union Commission announced on Monday, October 12 (October 20) in Brussels that the import of Chinese hybrid cars to the European Union will be limited to 350,000 units. This figure is half of the amount that China exported to the member states of this union.

The European Union's decision on this matter will be implemented from the first of December this year. It is assumed that after the first year the volume of imports of Chinese hybrid cars will increase by 6%. This import restriction will be removed after four years.

The European Union's trade commissioner announced last week that an agreement had been reached with China. But he did not mention details of this agreement. In the European Union it is feared that Chinese cars will weaken the market position of the European car companies because they are cheaper compared to the products of the European car manufacturers.

In 2024, the European Union imposed special tariffs on electric vehicles made in China. This problem has caused China to sell more hybrid cars to the EU. According to estimates, the number of Chinese-made hybrid cars imported and imported into the EU will exceed 800,000 units this year.
