🔶 Barbel Bass resigned from the leadership of the Social Democratic Party and the Ministry of Labor

Barbel Bass, co-chairman of Germany's Social Democratic Party and the country's minister of labor and welfare, resigned from both positions after the death of his stepdaughter. He also cited public attacks and criticism, including from the government's coalition partner, as reasons for his decision.

Boss announced that his resignation from both sides will take effect from this moment. According to him, "After the death of my stepdaughter, I realized that I needed time to deal with my grief. I want to have enough time for that."

He added: "Unfortunately, I have to say that during this difficult period in my personal life, the attacks against me have increased, including from the government's coalition partner. Since I do not have the strength to fully fulfill the duties of the government and the party in the short term, I decided to give up both positions. Bass said he had informed Lars Klingbeil, head of Germany's Social Democratic Party and vice chancellor, that he would be leaving the party leadership as of today. He also asked the German chancellor to transfer him from the position of minister of labor and welfare.
