British police have confirmed in a press release that a man has died after being attacked by a tiger at a wildlife park in Yorkshire.
On Saturday, October 10, shortly before police were called at 1:35 p.m. local time, a visitor was seen jumping into the tiger enclosure at the park.
South Yorkshire Police said the tiger made a ground attack on the man immediately after entering and the man died instantly. According to the authorities, the animal was not harmed and remained in its enclosure after the incident.
This entertainment center is closed for security reasons.
British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said he was "deeply saddened" to hear the news. He expressed his "sympathy and deepest condolences to the family of the deceased" in the message. He also added that "he is very grateful to the rescue forces and the park staff who responded quickly to this incident." Yorkshire Wildlife Park also announced in a statement: "We offer our condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who lost his life."
