🔶 Increase the processing time for asylum cases in Germany again
After years of shortening the processing time, now the judicial processing time for complaints about asylum decisions has increased again. According to the German federal government's answer to the question of Klara Bunger, a member of the Left Party in the Bundestag, German courts took an average of 15.3 months to process complaints against the decisions of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) in the first half of the year.
In response to a previous parliamentary question, the government announced that the average duration of handling these cases last year was 14.3 months; However, then the data for December was not yet available.
What is certain is that after recording an average of 26.5 months to handle these cases in 2021, the duration of handling complaints decreased year by year. In 2024, the average time for judicial handling of complaints about decisions related to initial asylum applications or repeated applications for asylum was 16.7 months.
