At least seven people were killed and 10 others were injured following the Russian ground attack on the city of Zaporizhia in southern Ukraine on the morning of Saturday, October 10 (October 18).

According to the Reuters news agency, Mykhailo Smykin, the military governor of the Zaporizhia region, announced that the Russian army attacked several points in the city at the same time in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to the governor, rescue forces are still searching for possible people trapped under the rubble.

In recent days, the Russian army has carried out extensive ground attacks on civilian areas and targets in Ukrainian cities.

Dozens of people were killed in a ground attack on two buses in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk on Thursday, October 8, and at least 22 people were killed in a ground-based missile attack on a residential building in the city of Priluki. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the US approach to the war by calling for increased sanctions against Russia and demanding that Ukraine expand access to the Starlink satellite network.
