After the Social Democratic Party, the Left Party in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern voted to open coalition negotiations to form a state government consisting of the Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Greens.

Last night, after an online meeting that lasted several hours, the State Council of the Left Party decided to begin coalition negotiations to establish a state government with the Social Democrats and the Greens.

Hannis Herbst, co-chairman of the state branch of the Left Party and the party's new faction in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament, told the German news agency that the decision was unanimous.

The Green Party plans to make a decision on this issue on Saturday, October 10 (October 18) at a small party congress in the city of Rostock.
