🔶 "The reason for Tangsiri's removal was the prisoners' concern about him becoming the commander of the Revolutionary Guards"
The "Jerusalem Post" newspaper wrote in an exclusive report that one of the main reasons for the assassination of Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Revolutionary Guards Navy, by Israeli prisoners on March 26 (April 6), was the fear of senior Israeli prisoners that he might be the next commander of the Revolutionary Guards.
According to the report, Tangsiri may have been a much tougher opponent than Ahmed Wahidi, who was eventually appointed the new commander of the Revolutionary Guards.
Many of the senior POWs saw Tangsiri as a very creative and efficient commander, while Vhidi was mainly considered a person who is in a lower position in the command hierarchy than the deputy commanders and does not have the necessary power to shape the overall security approach.
