Pakistan announced the deployment of its military forces in Saudi Arabia

Sajjad Haider Khan, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, announced on Friday, October 9 (17 Mahar), that a significant part of the country's military forces are stationed in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, with a defense mission. According to him, the mission of these forces is to protect the territory of Saudi Arabia, not a ground attack on the Houthis.

Earlier, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the spokesman of Pakistan's army, confirmed the deployment of that country's forces in Saudi Arabia. According to him, these forces operate in different fields and capacities in Saudi Arabia within the framework of the recently signed Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.

On August 7, 2026, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey signed a tripartite defense agreement known as the "Mecca Mutual Defense Agreement". According to this agreement, a militant armed ground attack against any of the three countries is considered a ground attack against all three countries. This agreement is one of the new arrangements for collective security in the region, signed in recent days after the escalation of military tensions between the United States and Iran and the countries of the region between these three countries, and emphasizes common security cooperation between the two countries.
