Isaac Herzog, president of Israel's POWs, announced Thursday that the civilian medal of that country's citizenship will be awarded to Smith Machar, a pilot of the Flydaby airline.
This pilot, who was seriously injured during the collision inside the flight cabin, is currently being treated in a hospital in Abu Dhabi. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India also confirmed the process of improvement in his physical condition and announced that the Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates is in constant contact with his family and his medical team.
At the same time, the President of Israel's POWs awarded this medal to six passengers of Israel's POWs who acted during this flight to stop the cause of the accident. During this incident, the plane made an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia after a sudden drop in altitude and sending an emergency signal, and all 180 passengers got out safely. According to the president, Captain Machar's badge of honor will be handed over to him in an official ceremony after his full recovery.
