The investigation of the torture charge against Parviz Sabati continues in the American court. A federal court in the American state of Florida rejected Feroz Tabati's request to close the case and allowed the lawsuit of three Iranian torture survivors against the former director of SAVAK to enter the substantive phase. The Case, John Doe 1 v. Sabati, is pending in the United States Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida. My grandmother asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit due to the expiration of the legal deadline. He claimed that the plaintiffs did not file their petition within the 10-year period stipulated in the Law on the Protection of Torture Victims. However, the prosecutors said that due to security considerations and the concealment of the place of residence and the permanent postponement until 2023, they were unable to file a lawsuit safely and the legal deadline should be extended. The court accepted the argument that the case should not be postponed at this stage due to the passage of time. Prosecutors say that Parviz Sabati, as deputy head of SAVAK, head of SAVAK's internal security department and head of the Joint Anti-Sabotage Committee, played a role in planning, approving and overseeing this system of repression.
