🔶 Nobel Literature 2026 was passed to "Anne Carson", a Canadian writer
Anne Carson, a Canadian poet and essayist whose works range from poetry, prose, translation, myth and philosophy, won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.
In announcing this year's winner, the Swedish Academy praised Carson for his "bold and innovative body of work"; The works that created, according to this academy, new forms for contemporary literature in a "playful dialogue with the classical tradition".
Anne Carson, born in 1950 in Toronto, is one of those figures whose literary work is difficult to fit into a specific genre. He is a poet, essayist, translator and researcher of classical literature.
In his works, Carson repeatedly returned to ancient Greek literature and myths, but he reproduced this tradition in modern and sometimes completely experimental forms. His first book, "Eros Talhoshirin", was published in 1986; A work that linked literary criticism with the study of the concept of passion and love in the Greek tradition.
His best known work, "Red Biography", was published in 1998. This book is a verse novel inspired by the fragments left by the ancient Greek poet Stesichurus, and transforms the myth of the weeping monster slain by Heracles into a modern tale of adolescence, love, loneliness and emotional failure.
