🔶 Trump: I will talk to Putin about the plague issue in Siberia

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced that he is going to speak "very soon" with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, about the death of a laboratory worker in the Irkutsk region of Siberia; incidents whose initial reports were linked to the possibility of laboratory contamination and a pulmonary plague.

In response to reporters' questions at the White House regarding the timing of the conversation with Putin, Trump said the conversation would take place "very soon." He also said in response to a question about the US intelligence agencies' assessment of this event: "So far, we are in very deep discussions." We can probably report on this tomorrow." Earlier, Trump offered US assistance to Russia in connection with this incident.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it is closely monitoring reports of a suspected pulmonary plague case in the Irkutsk region of Russia, which resulted in the death of one person. The institution said the exact conditions of the case have not yet been confirmed. According to the center's explanation, pulmonary plague can be transmitted from person to person through respiratory droplets in close contact.

However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emphasized that there are currently no indications of a broader threat to the United States and that it will continue to monitor the situation with its inter-agency partners.

The World Health Organization announced that based on available information, the risk of this event to the general public is low.
