Guterres in Islamabad: America and Iran should end the war and return to diplomacy

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, during his official visit to Pakistan, supported Islamabad's efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and the United States and asked both sides to end the conflict, return to the path of diplomacy and ensure the release of shipping in the area in accordance with international law.

Guterres said on Tuesday, October 14 (October 6) after a meeting with Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, that this country has played a role as a "source of solidarity and resolution" in regional crises many times over the past few years. He emphasized that his message from Islamabad to all parties is "clear and unequivocal": the end of the war, a return to Saydago and the full return of shipping rights and releases.

These statements are made in a situation where tensions between Tehran and Washington continue and the status of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important oil and gas transmission routes in the world, has become the main axis of disputes. Iran has announced that the full reopening of the strait depends on the implementation of the conditions contained in the June interim agreement with the United States.
