🔶 The son of Nasreen Sotoveda received the award of the European Criminal Lawyers Association in his name
The Scott Crosby Award for 2026 was awarded to Nasreen Sotoveda, a lawyer and human rights defender.
This human rights award was given to him in the framework of the autumn conference of the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA).
The award ceremony was held at the conference and at the Tirana International Hotel in the capital of Albania.
Since this distinguished lawyer could not attend the ceremony in person, his son Nima Khandan received the award on his behalf.
The European Criminal Lawyers Association announced that by awarding this award it honors more than two decades of commendable activity in the defense of basic human rights, women's rights, fair trial and the independence of the legal profession. Professor Margaret Satterwhite, the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers and a professor at the New York University School of Law, who was present at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of the independence of the legal profession and international support for lawyers who "face oppression because of their professional activities."
