🔶 US State Department: Two members of the Iranian delegation expelled from America
The US State Department announced that the US "expelled" two members of the Iranian delegation who participated in the recent session of the UN General Assembly after they failed to comply with an order to leave the country.
A US official told Agence France-Presse: "Two other members of the Iranian delegation were still in [New York] long after the end of the UN General Assembly. 'They are now being expelled from America.'"
The official added that Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, "is quite serious about this matter."
According to US media reports, on Monday, September 28, the US State Department ordered Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, and his delegation to leave US soil. After the Iranian delegation to the UN confirmed on Friday that two members of the delegation were still in the US, Washington decided to expel them. According to Axios' report, one member of the delegation left America on the evening of Friday, October 2, and the second left the country on the morning of Saturday, October 3.
