🔶 Possibility of a pulmonary plague outbreak in Siberia; hospital quarantine in Russia

The inpatient ward of a regional hospital in the city of Shelekhov, near Irkutsk (the capital of the Siberian region), was placed under total quarantine due to suspicion of a "highly dangerous infection." According to published reports, a young woman died of "pulmonary plague," but Russian health authorities have not officially confirmed these reports.

The patient was hospitalized on Tuesday with severe pneumonia symptoms and died on Thursday after being placed on a ventilator. Initial signs of the center's closure were published on social media, and later the regional governor, Maxim Mudin, confirmed the quarantine of the hospital's inpatient ward, although its outpatient department remains operational.
