United Kingdom: UN sanctions against Iran's nuclear program remain in place

The United Kingdom announced that despite the termination of the activities of the UN Panel of Experts on Iran, the sanctions of this organization, related to the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, remain in force and bind all member states.

British officials said two permanent members of the Security Council opposed extending the mission of the Iranian panel of experts.

Britain says the end of this schedule will make it difficult to independently monitor the implementation of sanctions and attempts to circumvent them.

This country accused Iran of "inappropriate cooperation with the IAEA" and emphasized the continuation of efforts to implement UN sanctions and prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Sarah McIntosh, Britain's permanent representative to the UN, announced that Iran has more than 400 kg of 60% enriched uranium, and the IAEA is unable to confirm the amount, composition or location of Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles.
