🔶 Mecca's defense alliance in the test of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia
Report by Murad Rahmati
The Mecca Defense Treaty "considers a ground attack against one of the three countries, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey, as a ground attack against all three countries". Now, with the fierce missile and drone attacks of the Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi Arabia, the question is whether the agreement, which until now was mostly "deterrence and defense cooperation", will enter the operational phase, and to what extent Turkey and Pakistan are prepared to participate in the defense of Saudi Arabia?
The senior military commanders of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan discussed in Riyadh last week "increasing the exchange of information, military coordination and the integration of defense capabilities"; This action shows that the three countries are considering more practical mechanisms of this agreement.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the Houthi attacks may create new military needs for Saudi Arabia, and Ankara is ready to respond to these needs within the framework of the tripartite agreement.
