🔶 Kremlin: Iran should remain in the nuclear non-proliferation agreement

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, September 29 (October 7) that Moscow hoped Iran would remain an "important and responsible member" of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. At his press conference, Peskov said that Russia heard the statements of Ali Nikzad, the deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, about the possibility of Tehran's withdrawal from Enpity, but these words require further explanation and clarification.

He said: “We don't want Iran to leave Enpity. We see this treaty as the cornerstone of the non-proliferation system (nuclear weapons) and we hope that Iran will remain an important and responsible party to this treaty."

This position of the Kremlin was raised after the Iranian media, including radio and television, reported that the parliament was going to consider an emergency plan for Iran's withdrawal from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

According to reports in the Iranian media, Ali Nikzad said that Tehran no longer trusts the IAEA and Rafael Grossi, the director general of this institution. He claimed that Grossi conducts "only superficial tests" and presents negative reports against Iran.
