A new assessment by the German statistics office shows that without the labor force of people with an immigrant background, almost nothing can be done in Germany. In many jobs with a shortage of skilled workers, people with immigrant backgrounds make up the majority.

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany, based on a sample survey called "Microcensus", announced that more than a quarter (27%) of all salaried workers in this country in 2025 are of foreign origin.

Accordingly, people with an immigrant background are even more present than average in many jobs in Germany. According to the announcement of this organization based in Wiesbaden, these people accounted for more than half of the cooks (56%) last year.

Also, most workers in food production (55 percent), flooring installation (54 percent), scaffolding (51 percent) and meat processing (51 percent) were people with an immigrant background.
