Sculptors in Peru have begun making giant statues of Pope Leo ahead of his visit to the country. The global Catholic leader will visit Peru in November during a multi-nation tour of Latin America, which is a sort of homecoming for him. Pope Leo XIV first entered Peru as a missionary and Augustinian friar in 1985, and after years of living and operating in the country, he received Peruvian citizenship in 2015.
