The British newspaper "The Times" reported that one of the former bodyguards of Ismail Haniyeh, the slain Hamas leader, was granted asylum and then citizenship in Britain before he was arrested in November last year while planning an assassination ground attack against Jews in Europe. An informed source, who did not want to be named, told this newspaper that this person had a "fundamental role" in planning this ground attack.

In this report, the identity of this person and the name of Haniyeh's former bodyguard were not revealed for legal reasons, but he was presented as the son of a senior Hamas official.

In a report on this matter, the Times Prisoners of Israel quoted the Mossad's announcement from November, in which it was stated that the weapons discovered during the operation to neutralize this assassination plan belonged to Muhammad Naim, one of the operatives of Hamas. His father, Bassem Naim, is a senior official in the Hamas political office based in Gaza.
