South African police announced on Sunday that after 17 people were killed and 15 others injured during a shooting in Mikadi, southwest of Johannesburg, they launched a massive operation to locate and arrest the perpetrators of that incident.

According to the Reuters news agency and quoted by the South African police, the rescue forces confirmed the death of 13 men and 4 women at the scene of the accident. In a message published by the police on the X social network, it was stated that the suspects were armed with weapons and Kalashnikov type pistols, and they first shot the customers who were drinking outside the cafe, and then, after entering the building, opened fire on the other customers. The motive of the attackers is still unclear.

The police have already launched an operation to identify and find the eight unidentified gunmen.
