The leader of the world's Catholics was welcomed and cheered by a huge crowd as he drove down the magnificent Champs Elysees in a special papal car. Mass was then celebrated in the Place de la Concorde, one of the largest squares in Paris. A few hours before the start of the ceremony, the police blocked off a large area around the Champs Elysees.

According to the information of the correspondent of the first German television channel (ARD), 14 thousand security forces were employed in Paris. The cost of the Pope's trip to France is 27 million euros. The French Church depends on donations to finance this trip, and most of the expenses should be covered in this way. A number of politicians also attended the mass, but French President Emmanuel Macron was not present and Prime Minister Sebastien Le Cournot attended the ceremony on his behalf.
