Dan Jorgensen, the European Union's energy commissioner, informed the member states that Europe is facing an energy price crisis; A crisis that he says is related to the supply crisis in the oil and gas markets after the Iran war.

"We are facing a price crisis linked to a supply crisis," Jorgensen wrote in a letter he sent to EU energy ministers on Friday.

According to him, the consequences of the Iran war in the oil and gas markets are new pressure on energy prices in Europe.

The EU's energy commissioner said the sector is now better prepared than in winter 2021, when Russia squeezed Europe's energy supply by cutting gas supplies.

However, he stressed that European governments should do more for the coming winter. Jørgensen called on the member states of the European Union to consider or continue measures that could maintain the injection of gas into reserves or reduce the demand for gas and electricity as long as necessary.
