The first Salami theological school in Germany opened on Thursday, October 2 (September 24) in the city of Münster, located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. More than 300 international guests and representatives from politics, churches and universities attended the opening ceremony held at Munster Palace.

Sahiron Shamsudin from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia saw the establishment of this faculty as an important development for Islamic theology in Western Europe, which could have an impact on a global level.

Janche Turkli-Dahnert, North Rhine-Westphalia's Deputy Minister of Culture and Science, also said: "Slamic theology should have a permanent place in public universities in Germany."

This faculty has more authority than the "Salami Theological Center" that previously operated in Münster. Among other things, it can determine its internal regulations, launch academic courses, conduct exams and offer doctoral courses and "Havalat" or the highest academic and academic degree. Media in Germany reported that a "campus of theology" is to be established in Münster in collaboration with Catholic and Protestant theological faculties and other disciplines of religious studies. Campus Theology is a university group that brings together several faculties and disciplines related to theology and religions to collaborate in the field of education, research and interfaith dialogue.

Johannes Wessels, president of the University of Münster, described the complex as "an important center of interreligious dialogue."
