On Thursday, September 24 (October 2), French President Emmanuel Macron announced in a television interview about sending troops and military equipment of this country to protect one of Saudi Arabia's oil facilities from attacks by the Houthis in Yemen.

According to him, France will send "equipment and military forces" to help protect the strategic port of "Yanba" in Saudi Arabia following the attacks of the Houthi militias in Yemen. Macron added: "We will send military facilities including power, radar and defense systems to protect these facilities."

The French president emphasized and clarified that the nature of this assistance is "defensive and protective", this action does not mean intervention in the conflict.

Saudi Arabia's major oil storage and refining facilities, as well as the country's strategic East-West pipeline, are located in Yanbu. Saudi Arabia's military spokesman announced on Thursday, September 24, that six ballistic missiles aimed at the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast and the city of Taif in the southwest of the country were intercepted.
