🔶 Dozens of countries in statements called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz

About 80 countries, including Germany, issued joint statements on Thursday, September 24 (October 2), condemning attacks by the Islamic Republic and Iran-backed Houthis in the region and the disruption of global trade and energy security due to these attacks. These countries also demanded the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz immediately and fully.

According to Reuters, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the foreign minister of Bahrain, read this statement at the United Nations. Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and major Western countries were among the supporters of this statement.

Kaya Callas, the EU's foreign policy coordinator, and Johann Wadpel, Germany's foreign minister, also expressed their support for this statement on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
