The US Federal Police (FBI) is apparently the victim of a massive ground-based hacker attack. According to Reuters, the "Shiny Hunters" group announced that it had stolen the information of "almost all FBI agents and people who applied for FBI jobs."

According to this news agency, "Sparkling Hunters" also announced that it had obtained information of about five thousand employees of the American Federal Police.

To prove their success, the hackers provided, among other things, parts of a dataset. According to this report, this collection likely contains information about the names, addresses and social security numbers of FBI agents, as well as their areas of assignment and in some cases the names of their family members.

The US Federal Police confirmed the occurrence of an incident, but did not provide details about it. According to the American media, the FBI announced that "reports of unauthorized activities related to FBIjobs. The government is aware of and is investigating the issue."
