Kaya Callas, the European Union's foreign policy official, published a post on the X social network announcing her meeting with Iraqi Abbas, the foreign minister of the Republic of Salamis, on the sidelines of the United Nations Assembly in New York.

Callas wrote in his message, referring to the "diplomatic prospects for ending the American-Iranian war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz": "Before the war there were no complications or costs for the transition, and there must not be any after the war either."

Referring to the status of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the EU foreign policy official added: "Shipping should be free and unhindered both in the Strait of Hormuz and in the Strait of Belmandav."

At the end of his message, he also mentioned the state of human rights violations in Iran and wrote: "I also raised the issue of internal oppression in Iran, including the sharp increase in executions and death sentences."
