On Tuesday evening, September 22 (31 Shahrivar), on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York, Iraqi Abbas criticized what he called "France's interventionist positions towards Iran" in a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrow.

Iran's foreign minister emphasized the necessity to "respect the French embassy to Iran's internal laws and regulations."

At this meeting, Iraqichi also called France's positions towards regional developments, especially the American war and the Israeli captives against the Islamic Republic, "unacceptable" and described France's approach to human rights as "duplicitous". He accused this country of "collaborating in the implementation of illegal US sanctions against the Iranian people." At the same time, Iran's foreign minister claimed that the Republic of Salami "supports relations based on mutual respect and benefits with all countries, including France," but will act "seriously and decisively" in protecting its interests.
