After successive and painful defeats for the Christian Democratic Party (CDU) in the three state elections in September, the United Christian Party faction in the German Parliament will discuss the consequences of these defeats in the presence of Chancellor Friedrich Mertz.

Michael Kirschmer, the prime minister of Saxony, called on his party to examine the failures openly and start over. He told the "Omadir" network: "This matter also concerns people."

Mario Voigt, prime minister of Thuringia and head of the state branch of the Christian Democratic Party, also called the election failure a historic turning point. On the sidelines of the closed meeting of the state section of the Christian-Social Party, he said that it is not possible to continue on the previous path and that a "comprehensive review of the policy of the federal government in Berlin" is necessary.
