🔶 China Opposes U.S. Sanctions on Iranian Airlines

Guo Jiaqi, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed on Tuesday, September 22 (September 31), at a press conference the Beijing opposition to the decision announced by the U.S. Treasury to impose sanctions on Iranian airlines, calling the action "illegal".

He declared at this press conference: "China has always opposed unilateral and illegal sanctions that do not comply with international law and are not approved by the UN Security Council."

China's diplomatic stance on this matter was taken the evening before the meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, leaders of the United States and China. The presidents of the United States and China will meet and speak with each other this week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
