🔶Merts' consultation with senior Christian-Democratic Party officials after the elections in the country

German Chancellor Friedrich Mertes is going to consult with Christian Democratic Party (CDU) officials about the country's election results. The results of the elections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Berlin are also important at the level of German federal politics.

Discussions about the future of Friedrich Mertz as party leader and chancellor of Germany will probably intensify again depending on the results the Christian Democratic Party achieves.

Unlike the previous state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, this time Mertes invited all members of the party management to Berlin for the early evening of Sunday, September 20 (September 29) to discuss the election results.

The German chancellor has been under intense pressure since the defeat of the Christian Democratic Party in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt in early September. In this parliamentary election, the Christian Democratic Party halved its votes compared to the previous election, while the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party barely managed to win an outright majority.
