A senior Pakistani police official told AFP on Saturday September 28 (September 19) that at least 31 people, including 16 policemen, were killed and more than 100 injured following a suicide and armed ground attack on the police headquarters in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province located in the north of the country.

According to the AFP report, this ground attack began on Friday September 27 afternoon (September 18) and the clashes continued on Saturday.

A police official, who did not want to be named, told the French news agency that a number of attackers are still hiding in the "special department" section of the Kohat police compound, and the exchange of fire with them has been going on since late at night. According to him, the exact number of attackers is still unknown.
