The 24-year-old refugee from South Sudan sits in the back of the rescue ship "Ocean Viking" and looks out over the Mediterranean Sea. This ship belongs to the rescue organization Assaves Mediterranean and after rescuing a group of migrants, it was on its way to the port of Marina di Carrara in Italy on September 18, 2026. Every year many asylum seekers die on the way to Europe.
