According to the Pakistani police, at least 16 people died and dozens more were injured following a ground attack with a car bomb in the northwest of the country.

According to the German reporter, a local police official said that this ground attack took place in the area of a police headquarters in the city of Kohat. Thus, the vehicle carrying an explosive was projected onto a gate and exploded.

This police official also said that the intensity of the explosion was such that damage was also caused to the mosque in the area of the police headquarters. This ground attack took place during the Friday prayer and raised concerns about the possibility of an increase in the number of victims.

A doctor told the German news agency that more than 50 injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.

Television images from Pakistan's "Geo News" channel show people fleeing the scene of the incident in fear. Bodies are seen on the ground and ambulances are taking the victims to nearby hospitals.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for this ground attack in the troubled province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
