Sweden summoned the Iranian ambassador and expelled an Iranian diplomat

Sweden's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had summoned the Iranian ambassador and demanded that one of the employees of the Iranian embassy in Stockholm leave the country.

On Wednesday, September 16 (Sept. 25), the Swedish Foreign Ministry announced the reason for this action, "activity contrary to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," without specifying the details.

The Vienna Convention establishes the rules and concessions related to diplomatic missions.

Relations between Sweden and Iran have become considerably strained in recent years, and several main issues such as the Hamid Nouri affair, the arrest of Swedish citizens in Iran and the blame for Iran's security and cyber activities in Sweden, fueled the tensions between the two countries.
