Bakai: We recommend that the United Arab Emirates government adhere to the principle of good neighborliness. The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagai, confirmed that the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Little Tunb are an integral and eternal part of Iranian territory, and emphasized that repeating fictitious and false claims about them will not change the geographical, historical and legal facts that have been established. He added that this action by Canada, which in turn faces territorial claims from the American government, is a short-sighted step, a violation of the basic principles of the United Nations Charter, a violation of international law, and entails establishing the international responsibility of the Canadian state. Bakay advised the UAE government to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness, instead of repeating futile regional claims against a large neighboring country.
