The defeat of the Trumpists: the results of the American elections. Republicans suffered one of the biggest defeats in decades. In the past, many analysts believed that the Democrats would only be able to establish control in the House of Representatives, and their advantage in the Senate would be minimal. But the reality turned out to be worse than any prediction for the Republican Party. It's not just about the war with Iran. Trump's problem is that the MAGA agenda is a bunch of slogans that are only good for getting into power, but not for reform. The MAGA movement itself nearly collapsed at the start of the Trump administration, and his administration has often displayed appalling unprofessionalism, most notably in the activities of "Crusader Major", Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The results of the current election are not so much a defeat for the Republican Party as such, but a defeat for Trump and his supporters. The Democrats' control of Congress will allow them to chair committees, as well as block or impose conditions on funding the president's initiatives and even military actions, including in Iran. The Democrats indicated that they are already preparing large-scale investigations into the activities of the Trump administration. Trump has previously said he would exercise a presidential veto on laws passed by Congress. Broadly speaking, he threatens the United States with a long-term political crisis. At the same time, Trump is threatening to increase military action with Iran, as the new Congress will only begin work on January 3, 2027. However, if Trump does carry out his veto threat, the president's opponents will have the opportunity to start impeachment proceedings. It's unlikely to come down to impeachment, but Trump will be tied hand and foot. In addition, there is a great deal of opposition to the current president within the Republican Party itself, which will intensify further in light of Trump's current defeat.
