In September, digital ruble balances in bank accounts opened on the Central Bank (CB) platform increased more than 200 times. As of September 1, they amounted to 61 million ₽, as of October 1 - already 13.2 billion ₽, RBC reports, citing reports from 33 credit institutions. We are talking about digital ruble account balances (account 305). As the central bank explained, they do not reflect the funds of the banks' customers in digital rubles (this money is kept on the regulator's platform), but the funds of the banks themselves are placed in digital rubles. The central bank did not disclose the volume of transactions or the exact balances of customers in the new currency that were created in the first month after the launch of the project. The digital ruble account of a credit organization is an active balance sheet account of a bank, which reflects the digital rubles belonging to it, and not the balances of individuals and legal entities. According to experts, in economic terms it is closer to a correspondent account at the central bank than to customer accounts. Therefore, the increase in balances cannot be interpreted as an increase in citizens' and businesses' funds in digital rubles. Experts point out that the size of the balances in such accounts is explained by the Central Bank's requirement for banks to maintain a sufficient daily balance of funds in their digital accounts to carry out customer transactions in the period between normal settlement sessions of the Bank of Russia's payment system. According to reports, almost 80% of the sector's balance sheets in digital rubles are denominated by Sberbank - ₽10.5 billion. Until September 1, the large bank was ranked second among credit institutions in this index (Raiffeisenbank was in first place), but after a full-scale launch it moved to first place by a large margin. Ak Bars and VTB banks are in second and third place in terms of the volume of digital rubles in accounts - almost 900 million and ₽876.8 million, respectively. The biggest increase in balances was recorded in Back Bars - 128.6 thousand times. In the bank "Dom.
