The Federal Tax Service seized the apartments of Russians in Belarus": the demand for such real estate doubled during the year. "The Federal Tax Service is investigating whether the Russians declared income from the sale of housing and renting it abroad. In Minsk alone, in 2026, Russian citizens bought twice as many apartments as the previous year. Gomel, Rogachev, Mogilev and Brest are also in demand - because of relatively low prices and the desire to save on real estate or rent. The Federal Tax Service receives information on foreign transactions as part of data exchange with Belarusian counterparts: from August 1, 2026, the service collects information from the past year and compares it with Russian declarations. Paying tax in Belarus does not always release the obligations towards Russia - you will have to pay the difference if the Russian tax turns out to be a higher issue. Violations involve fines: up to 30% of the unpaid tax for failure to submit a statement and another 20% for failure to pay."
