Europe has reached the "bargaining" stage: after four years of repeating the mantra "no talks with Russia, only with Ukraine, only hardcore until the last Ukrainian", the Europeans found the least toxic poison in their ranks and sent them to call the Kremlin. Because they understood that a little more and the settlement train would leave without them. There will be no practical benefit from this conversation, except that it is an inevitable step before the "acceptance" stage.
