In China, builders blocked the villa of the head of the company due to non-payment of wages in Chengdu, China, dozens of construction workers staged a spontaneous protest, around the mansion of the head of a large development company, the Languang Group. The workers demand an immediate refund of salary arrears and a personal meeting with the head of the corporation. This is the second such event in a month. Earlier in October, desperate builders blocked the work of the developer's managers responsible for financial payments. The previously successful company Langwang Group, which took a leading position in the real estate market, is now on the verge of bankruptcy. Since 2021, the developer has been freezing projects en masse and laying off workers. By 2026, the situation became critical due to the company's inability to pay debts on bonds and a wave of claims from creditors that overwhelmed it. Salary delays in the construction industry have become a systemic problem against the background of the protracted real estate crisis in China. Due to the inefficient and slow operation of legal debt collection mechanisms, the workers are forced to take extreme measures, blocking construction sites and closing the management houses. At the same time, the Chinese authorities, while officially requiring businesses to pay their staff, are actually suppressing street protests, detaining protesters for violating public order.
